Kamloops cops seek suspects in Aberdeen shooting

Kamloops RCMP are releasing photos of two suspects from the first of two shootings in the city this weekend.

They were seen walking in the area, pictured in blurry surveillance footage released from the early morning shooting.

“As part of the ongoing investigation, officers have collected security images of two suspects and are releasing them with the hopes that someone will recognize who they are,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.

Police are looking for these two suspects after a shooting at a Kamloops motel on Sept. 15, 2023.

Police were called to the shooting at a motel unit in the 1300 block of Hugh Allan Drive around 2:35 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. They confirmed gunshots were fired, but no one at the motel was found to be injured.

The two male suspects left in a black Dodge Ram, which was stolen from Belfour Drive just minutes before the shooting. It was found burning on Tremerton Drive around 2:50 a.m.

The first suspect was wearing a black jacket, dark pants and white shoes with orange on the back, according to police. The other was wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and black shoes with orange on the bottom.

“We are asking the public to please have a look at what the suspects are wearing, including their footwear, and contact us with any information that may help lead to an identification," Evelyn said.

It was the first of two shootings in the past three days. The second was around 2:40 a.m., Sept. 18.

Again, there were no injuries, but the shots struck an apartment building on the 700 block of Tranquille Road.

Police don't know yet whether the two shootings are related, but they're looking to the public for information, witness accounts and any video footage.

“It’s very fortunate that no one was injured in either of this week’s occurrences, but the threat to the public associated with firearms offences is one that’s very real and can come with tragic consequences,” Cpl. Evelyn said. “It’s extremely important for anyone who has information that could help further this investigation to reach out to police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information can contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
