iN NUMBERS: BC SPCA helping animals in Kamloops, Okanagan

You might think of the BC SPCA as those folks who are always trying to get you to donate some money to save a one-eyed cat, but they do a lot more than that.

The BC SPCA investigates animal cruelty around Kamloops and the Okanagan, and also helps creatures and critters of all shapes and sizes find loving homes.

Here are some numbers for the BC SPCA:

  • 34: Bengal cats were rescued in Vernon in May.
  • 6: German shepherd puppies were rescued and taken to the BC SPCA Salmon Arm this month.
  • 21: Pets need a home in South Okanagan-Similkameen including Guinea pigs named after the hobbits in Lord of the Rings.
  • 1: Bunny in Kamloops needs a home, his name is Obi Bun Kenobi.
  • 12: Pets ready for adoption in Kelowna, including five black cats.
  • 717,621: Meals for pets in the BC SPCA’s care a year.
  • 2,000: Lost animals reunited with their families a year in B.C.
  • 8,000: Animal cruelty investigations a year in B.C.
  • 21: Million dollars in sheltering and bylaw enforcement by the BC SPCA in 2024.
  • 5.2: Million dollars for spay and neuter operations in B.C. 2024.
