KELOWNA - Ask the locals: The real Okanagan Lifestyle is mostly hosting friends and family visiting on vacation.

Luckily the Okanagan affords lots of things to do but when weather or inevitable sunburns create the need for an inside day, Kelowna's massive indoor swimming pool might get overlooked for a day trip. It's got something for all ages: Swimming, diving, a river run, hot tubs, a sauna. Oh, it's also got the only flowrider in B.C. and the only wave pool between Vancouver and Calgary.

The H20 Aquatics Centre on Gordon Drive is already 10 years old, if you can believe it. The facility is busy at all hours of the day and it’s not surprising given what they have to offer.

One of the most unique features of H20 is the FlowRider surf simulator. It is the only indoor surf machine in all of B.C. It's even where local teen Jonathan Hintz trained before earning a bronze medal at the 2017 World Flowboarding Championships in Cancun, Mexico. He was also named Canada's best bodyboarder in 2016 and 2017.

The centre is fully equipped with water slides, an indoor water park, an Olympic swimming pool, diving boards, and the river run, a warm, slow moving channel current perfect for a relaxing float.

You don't even need to wait for a rainy day for all this.

Drop-in rates for adults are $11.25, young adults and seniors are $8.75, children 2 to 12 years old are $6 and a family with adults and up to 3 children is $28.50.

The pool is open 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
