A Calgary man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection to 14 charges was arrested in Kelowna on Wednesday.
Charles Boughton, 26, fled from Alberta to the Okanagan so a Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued, according to a Kelowna RCMP media release.
Calgary Police Service reached out to Kelowna RCMP on June 4. RCMP managed to track him down to a residence in the 3700-block of Lakeshore Road around 4 p.m.
Police took him into custody without incident and he remains in custody.
Boughton has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, proceeds of crime, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, two counts of possession of a restricted firearm, two counts of a loaded firearm, six counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and manufacturing drugs, RCMP said.
“This was an excellent example of collaboration between the Kelowna RCMP and our partners at the Calgary Police Service,” Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay said in the release.
“This was a very well executed multi-jurisdictional arrest and we commend our officers who acted swiftly to mitigate any concerns for public safety during the arrest.”
