KAMLOOPS — The federal candidate for Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo has stepped down, according to the riding association’s president.

In a news release issued today, Aug. 6, NDP riding association president Bill Sundhu announced Gina Myhill-Jones will no longer be the candidate in this fall’s election.

“This morning Ms. Myhill-Jones let me know that she was stepping down as our candidate in this fall’s federal election,” Sundhu says in the release. “Gina has resigned for personal reasons.”

Myhull-Jones was nominated on May 26 and had been campaigning since.

"We are grateful to Gina for the work she has undertaken in the riding," Sundhu says. "Gina will continue to work with the campaign to elect an NDP candidate here."

The search for a candidate is underway.
