KAMLOOPS — The New Democratic Party of Canada will acclaim their candidate for the October federal election this weekend.

Gina Myhill-Jones will be acclaimed as the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo NDP candidate on Sunday, according to a press release issued today, May 23.

The party's constituency president Bill Sundhu says three nomination meetings will take place on Sunday, May 26 in Kamloops, Clearwater and 100 Mile House.

“After an exhaustive search and consultations across the riding, it is clear that New Democrats are placing their trust in Gina to reclaim this riding for our party,” Sundhu says in the release. “She is an active community leader and volunteer with a strong background of advocacy and commitment to helping others."

Myhill-Jones has worked as a Women's Centre Safe House Coordinator supporting victims of violence and their families. She has also worked as a community support worker supporting individuals with physical or intellectual challenges. She resides on a ranch just outside of 100 Mile House with her husband.

“Far too many people that have been left behind and ignored by the Conservatives and the Liberals. We need a government that is fair, transparent, and honest. I think people in Kamloops, 100 Mile House, and the North Thompson are tired of hearing the same old rhetoric and empty promises from scandal-ridden politicians doing politics the same old way. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work with the people of Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo," Myhill-Jones says in a news release.
