Elderly woman dies after struck by RV at North Okanagan campsite

KAMLOOPS - A elderly woman was killed in an accident the North Okanagan involving a motorhome driven by her partner early this morning.

Vernon RCMP say the tragedy took place at a campsite on Fintry Delta Road off Westside Road between Kelowna and Vernon at around 12:40 p.m. today, Aug. 28.

Initial reports say a 93-year-old man was moving the small RV when he ran over the 78-year-old woman who died at the scene. The couple were staying at the campsite together.

An investigation is underway and RCMP Traffic Services collision analysts are looking into the case along with the B.C. Coroners Service, RCMP say.

No information on the identity of the victim or the driver of the RV has been released at this time.
