KELOWNA – A Kelowna couple are in the hospital with serious injuries after they were hit from behind by a car Thursday night.

To add insult to injury, police are calling the crash a hit and run.

RCMP Cst. Kris Clark says the woman, 44, and her husband, 46, were walking their dog in the 1600 block of Verdure Road around 8 p.m. when they were hit by an unknown vehicle. They were rushed to hospital with serious injuries. They are expected to recover.

The driver of a damaged blue Saturn called 911 to report the crash and was at the scene with the RCMP arrived.

“Their involvement is yet to be determined,” according to Clark.

The RCMP seized the Saturn so it can be tested to see if it was involved in the crash.

Police are looking for a second vehicle, but they don’t have a description and are looking for witnesses.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP. Call 250-762-3300 and ask for Cst. Organ. You can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
