Kelowna city councillor Mohini Singh is running for the BC United nomination for the Kelowna-Lake Country provincial riding.

“Why am I running?” she wrote in an email. “This riding is large and diverse. It needs a representative with experience who will hit the ground running.

“I believe I am that person. I worked on TV in Vernon covering Coldstream, Oyama, Lavington and area for six years and I know the region well.”

In the next provincial election, which has to be held on or before Oct. 19, 2024, the Kelowna area will have four ridings, with Kelowna Centre added.

The Kelowna-Lake Country boundaries have been shifted north to accommodate the change.

It’s currently held by Norm Letnick for the BC United party. He will not be running again.

Singh’s email comes less than 24 hours after political operative Adam Wilson sent out his own email saying he’s making a special announcement today at 6 p.m. in Lake Country.

It’s expected he’ll be declaring his intention to run for the same BC Liberal nomination in Kelowna-Lake Country.
