Adam Wilson wants to be Kelowna’s newest MLA

A Kelowna-raised political operative with close ties to the BC United and Federal Conservative parties, not to mention Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas, is making a “special announcement” in Lake Country tomorrow, Aug. 29.

Adam Wilson is hosting the event at Lake Country Brewing at 6 p.m. where’s he’s likely to declare that he’s running for the BC United nomination to run as MLA in the next provincial election.

Given that sitting Kelowna-Lake Country BC United MLA Norm Letnick is not running for re-election and the location of the event, it’s likely Wilson will be running for that seat.

There is, however, a new Kelowna Centre riding so, he could announce he's running in that riding.

And, given that BC United, under its former name of the BC Liberal Party, have dominated the Kelowna provincial political scene for all of recent history, getting the nomination leaves Wilson as a front-runner to win the riding.

Wilson grew up in Kelowna and served as campaign manager for Dyas in his successful bid to become Kelowna mayor last fall.

As a student at McGill University in Montreal, Wilson was president of the Conservative Students’ Association.

In 2016, he worked as Quebec youth chair of Kellie Leitch’s campaign for the leadership of the federal Conservative Party.

He works as government relations director for a national pharmacy association.

He also serves, or served, as a consultant for people like Dyas and Kelowna Lake Country MP Tracy Gray, a Conservative.

The next provincial election has to be held on Oct. 19, 2024, or sooner.
