A North Okanagan woman who was charged for careless driving following a crash that killed a four-year-old girl in Calgary in 2016, has been charged with her second driving offence in the North Okanagan in less than a year.

Tanis Sunnie Lambert was charged for driving while prohibited for an incident that took place in Coldstream Sept. 6.

The charges come less than 12 months after Lambert, born 1978, was arrested and charged in Coldstream for driving while impaired, for an incident that took place in Vernon Dec. 20, 2018. Lambert's trial is scheduled for March 2020 regarding these charges.

Lambert made headlines in Calgary in 2016 when a truck she was driving struck and killed four-year-old Avayah (Avi) Toulon while crossing the street with her parents Craig and Samantha Toulon in Calgary.

Lambert was charged with careless driving for the May 6, 2016 crash, but had the charges withdrawn after the first day of the trial. The Calgary Herald reported the crown decided there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction and withdrew the charge.

In May 2018, Lambert settled a civil suit launched against her by the Toulon family.

Lambert's driving while prohibited charge was adjourned at the Vernon courthouse Oct. 17, and rescheduled for Nov. 14.
