Change in Kamloops wildfire evacuee reception centre hours

KAMLOOPS - The emergency social services reception centre in Kamloops is changing its hours to meet current activity.

The evacuee reception centre for wildfire evacuees, located at the Sandman Centre on Lorne Street, is changing its hours tomorrow, Aug 27, according to a Thompson-Nicola Regional District media release.

The new operating hours will best meet the current activity level of the centre, including evacuee service renewals, the release states.

The reception centre will be open the following hours:

  • Sunday, Aug. 27 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Monday, Aug. 28 Closed
  • Tuesday, Aug. 29 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 30 Closed
  • Thursday, Aug. 31 Closed
  • Friday, Sept. 1 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 2 Closed
  • Sunday, Sept. 3 Closed
  • Monday, Sept. 4 Closed
  • Tuesday, Sept. 5 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The emergency social services continues to assist renewing evacuees and these hours will be adjusted as needed should conditions change. For inquiries outside of these hours contact 1-800-585-9559. 

Evacuees should also register with Red Cross at 1-800-863-6582.
