Vernon RCMP are investigating after the body of an 81-year-old man was found in the creek at Polson Park.
According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, at around 7:30 p.m. July 29, police were called to a report that a body had been found floating in Vernon Creek in Polson Park.
Several bystanders performed CPR on the man and RCMP and Vernon Fire Rescue Services personnel continued to try to resuscitate the man when they arrived.
Their efforts weren't successful and the man died at the scene.

"We want to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," Vernon RCMP Corp. Neil Body said in the release. "Our thoughts are also with the first responders, members of the public who assisted, and everyone impacted by this event."
Police say no criminality is suspected and the B.C. Coroners Service is also conducting an investigation to determine how, where, when, and by what means the 81-year-old came to their death.
RCMP said no additional information is available for at this time.
