UPDATE: Storms on the River closed while owner searches for new location

The restaurant has no signs out front suggesting a closure.

Storms on the River, one of Kamloops' high-end restaurants with a view, is closed until the owner finds a new location.

Heather Morgan, head chef and owner of Storms on the River, says that the restaurant is not out of business, but it is closed until they find a new place to serve their local, handcrafted fare.

Morgan posted an announcement to the Storms on the River Facebook page today, Feb. 6, giving answers to the patrons who had been left in the dark.

Fans of the restaurant were left confused after it had been closed without explanation, the phone number was out of service, the website wouldn’t allow bookings, and it appeared Morgan had listed kitchen and dining room wares for sale.

Morgan had listed tables, chairs, plates, menu books and a fridge, among many other restaurant wares, for sale on a Facebook classified site. It has since been removed.

The announcement on the Storms on the River Facebook page says customers with gift cards will be able to use them at the new location, once it is found.

According to an interview Morgan did with Buy B.C.: Eat Drink Local newsletter, the restaurant has been around for more than 20 years. On the Storms on the River website it notes they served local, in-season food and aimed to make everything, even condiments and drink syrups from scratch.

The news comes the same week that Swiss Chalet and Harvey's restaurants are announcing closures.
