  • Parkinson Recreation Park tennis court closure

    The Basil Meikle tennis courts located in Parkinson Recreation Park near the Apple Bowl Stadium will be closed for the winter season beginning Dec. 7, reopening March 1, 2017 (weather permitting). As the City’s premier tennis courts, the Basil Meikle courts are being closed to protect the playing surface over the winter months.

    Hardy tennis players can take advantage of one of the City’s other public tennis courts located in 12 neighbourhood parks across the City.
  • Lake Country's Woodsdale Road area goes to the dogs

    While a long term dog park site is being developed pets can use a temporarily fenced site on Woodsdale Road for exercise.

    Dog owners in Lake Country have been wondering where to take their four-legged furry family members for an off-leash run and some socializing since the Woodsdale Road off-leash park closure was announced in September.
  • Spooktacular Pumpkin Walk in Lake Country

    LAKE COUNTRY - The extremely popular Regional Parks annual Halloween celebration is moving to Lake Country this year.

    The Spooktacular Pumpkin Walk is being held on Monday, Oct. 31 in partnership with Halloween events with the District of Lake Country.
  • Tennis and bocce fundraiser for Kelowna General Hospital

    KELOWNA - For the 15th consecutive year, tennis enthusiasts are invited to get set for the Celebrity Tennis and Bocce by the Lake event, a celebration of community and sport to benefit Kelowna General Hospital. This year, the event takes place Sept. 16 and 17. 
  • Parking limited at Parkinson Recreation Centre this weekend

    KELOWNA - From July 8 to 10, there will be higher volumes of traffic using the Parkinson Recreation Centre parking lot for the 2016 Pickleball Canada National Tournament. Approximately 60 stalls will be allocated to event attendees at the Recreation Centre with the rest of the parking designated at the Basil Meikle tennis courts and the parking lot beside the Apple Bowl Stadium.

  • Knox Mountain Park closure for Knox Mountain Hillclimb

    The Knox Mountain Hillclimb is taking place Saturday, May 21, to Sunday, May 22. Access to Knox Mountain Park will be limited to ticket holders only during the weekend. The off-leash dog park and tennis courts will be closed throughout the weekend.
  • Last Mountain Park tennis court gets some TLC

    WEST KELOWNA - The tennis court at Last Mountain Park will be out of commission for a month as crews work to replace the facility.

    As part of this year’s capital works, the City is spending $84,000 to replace the tennis court at 3171 Webber Road in the Glenrosa Neighbourhood.
