  • No smoking in Lake Country public spaces starting January

    Anyone in Lake Country thinking ahead to setting the goal to quit smoking in 2017 will get some help with their resolution from the new Smoking Regulation Bylaw 954, 2016 adopted by Council July 5, 2016, which comes into effect January 5, 2017.
  • Highway maple trees relocate to new home

    On Oct. 24, the City of Kelowna will remove five large maple trees at the corner of Highway 97 and Sexsmith Rd., just behind the ‘Welcome to Kelowna’ sign. The trees are being removed as a preservation measure as the highway expansion project continues.

    Instead of cutting down the five maples, the City is protecting the trees by relocating them to Rutland Centennial Park, adjacent to the children’s playground.
  • Spray park shuts down this weekend

    WEST KELOWNA - Another season is drawing to a close at West Kelowna’s children’s water playground in Westbank Centre Park.
  • New playground for Joe Rich

    By the end of November, a new playground structure will be in place for visitors to Joe Rich Community Park.

    The park will be closed from Monday, October 5th until approximately November 30th so crews can remove the existing wooden equipment and tire swing, complete required excavation work and install the new playground equipment.  
  • Greater Vernon Recreation Services offer springtime Park and Play

    Greater Vernon Recreation Services is inviting kids and parents to join them for Park & Play in local Vernon parks for free activities and games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from April 7 to June 18.

    Park & Play takes place in Polson Park near the playground on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7 pm. On Thursday evenings, the action starts at Lakeview Park (3001 18 St) from 5-6:30 pm. Look for white flags that will be set up to mark where the activities are taking place.
  • Discovery Park officially opens on Saturday

    Penticton – Play time is going natural. Alongside project partners, the City of Penticton is officially opening its first natural playground, Discovery Park, in Skaha Lake Park this coming Saturday.
  • New Mission Creek Regional Park playground open

    Central Okanagan youngsters have a new place to play that will stimulate their creative juices and exercise their senses.

    Regional Board Chair Robert Hobson has officially opened the new playground located in Mission Creek Regional Park.

    Hobson says, “This facility is one of the most popular and well used playgrounds in the region.  After 20 years, it was badly in need of an overhaul.
  • Prince Charles Playground reopens

    The City of Kamloops is pleased to announce the reopening of the new accessible playground at Prince Charles and newly enhanced wading pool on Saturday, June 29th just in time for the Canada Day long weekend.

    Completed ahead of schedule, the new playground will be for children ages 2 to 12 and will have the newest accessible CSA equipment and a new impact surface for children of all abilities. The wading pool also has a new look also that will compliment the theme of the playground.

    With the first reading of the Downtown Plan approved, the City of Penticton is launching public sessions for residents and businesses to review the proposed vision for a revitalized Downtown Penticton.
