KELOWNA - Enjoy free, family entertainment at West Kelowna World Music Festival Friday, Aug. 26 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 27, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
World Music Festival will feature:
6:15 p.m. – Cori Derickson (Westbank First Nations performer and drummer)
7:00 p.m. – Major Mambo ( Salsa band)
8:00 p.m. – En Karma (DRUM & DHOL beats)
4:30 p.m. – Altrab (Middle-Eastern Duo)
5:30 p.m. – Deana Knight and the Hot Club of Mars (Gypsy Jazz band)
6:30 p.m. – Wild Son (Modern Folk/Funk rockers)
7:50 p.m. – ZimbaMoto (Afro-fusion group)
The Interior Savings KidZone is back in 2016. Interactive music and culture sessions will be taking place between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, for kids, caregivers, and even the young at heart!
Learn some drumming techniques with Feel The Rhythm Drum Circles. Sing, play music and hear stories with Barefoot Caravan. Learn cultural dances with Worldbeat Dance, Arts & Wellness. Interact with roving artists from Kinshira. See and hear Barry Loewen playing and showing off the didgeridoo.
Interior Savings will be onsite with their Great Money Challenge and Fat Cat mascot, British Columbia Golf with games, as well as other community partners with activities.
The City of West Kelowna and Creative Okanagan have teamed up to add World Music Festival to the summer concert schedule at Memorial Park, adjacent to Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre. The event is being held in addition to the successful Music in the Park concerts that have been drawing up to 1,000 spectators every Friday night.
