The full Pink Moon was hanging big and bright in the sky over Kamloops and the Okanagan this week.

The conditions were perfect without a cloud in sight when local photographers captured the moon in all different light as the sun went down and night fell.

These photos were taken over towns and mountains, and reflected in local lakes.

The Pink Moon is named after a creeping moss called mountain phlox which is native to the eastern United States where it flowers every spring. The moon has many names including Sprouting Grass Moon, Egg Moon and Fish Moon.

April’s full Pink Moon reached peak illumination on Tuesday and will appear full through to Thursday morning, so there is still time to get a photograph. There are clouds in the overnight forecast so viewers may have to be patient.

Be sure to look for the tail end of the Lyrid meteor shower and the bright planet Jupiter.

If you get any full moon photos you want to share send them to news@infonews.ca.
