SHUSWAP - Early this morning, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for a system that may bring heavy rain to B.C.'s southern interior.
Special weather statements are given to let the public know that conditions are unusual and could cause concern.
Predicted rainfall totals vary widely, depending on location. The rain is expected to continue through the weekend.
Environment Canada says areas of West Kootenay, Kootenay Lake, Elk Valley, Arrow Lakes - Slocan Lake, Shuswap, West Columbia, and southern Fraser Canyon will likely see 30 to 40 mm of rain.
