Water quality advisory issued for Naramata

PENTICTON - Increasing turbidity in Naramata's water supply has resulted in the Regional District issuing another water notice for the community.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen says increasing turbidity readings over the long weekend resulted in the water quality advisory, which is a level of notification a step below a boil water notice.

People with weakened immune systems, infants and children, the elderly, people with chronic illnesses and people wishing extra protection are advised to find an alternate source of water for drinking, infant formula preparation, and oral hygiene, the District says. Alternatively, water can be boiled for at least one minute prior to using for personal ingestion.

Naramata was on a boil water notice until last Thursday, when it was rescinded.

For more information, call the Regional District Public Works Department at 250-490-4106 or 250-490-4135.
