HAMBURG - Hamburger SV says it has filed a criminal complaint against a spectator who ran on to the field and hit Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery in the face with a scarf in added time of their German Cup match Wednesday.
The complaint could lead to criminal charges. The Bundesliga club says it will also impose a stadium ban for the fan, who was not publicly identified.
The man was seized by security guards and turned over to the police. Hamburg, which lost 3-1, apologized to Bayern and Ribery immediately after the match. Bayern said it planned no action.
Ribery was not injured in the incident and shrugged it off after the match.
