PENTICTON - Naramata fire chief Tony Travao will be reinstated after being suspended by the regional district board two months ago.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen has had little to say about the reasons for Travao’s suspension or why the investigation took so long.

A statement issued by Naramata director Karla Kozakevich on Dec. 21 said the board of directors met at the Thursday, Dec. 20, board meeting and as a result are “working towards a positive outcome with the intent of the Chief’s reinstatement in January.”

Kozakevich added the issues at hand were internal personnel matters and “it is our policy not to discuss these personnel matters publicly.”

Chief Travao could not be reached for comment.
