PENTICTON - There is no word as to why a regional district fire chief was suddenly suspended by the regional district board recently.

Naramata Director Karla Kozakevich confirmed the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen Board of Directors suspended Naramata Fire Chief Tony Trovao on Oct.18 at the regional district’s regular meeting in an in camera session, but offered no other details.

She said in an email yesterday, Oct. 24, the board is waiting for an investigation to be completed.

The regional district’s fire departments report directly to the board following the rescindment of the district’s fire department bylaw earlier this year.

South Okanagan Similkameen Fire Chiefs Association spokesperson Denis Gaudry says the association has no comment to make on the action at this time.

Trovao is a long serving member of the Naramata Fire Department.
