KAMLOOPS - A missing 9-year-old Chase boy has been returned to his parents after spending the night at his friend's house.

Cpl. Scott Linklater with Chase RCMP says the boy was reported missing last night, June 17.

His friend's parents heard a news story this morning and called police to say he was at their place, Linklater says.

“He was safe and sound, no injuries, no worries,” he says.

Linklater says there was a miscommunication between the missing boy and his parents, who expected their son to return after a bike ride before dark yesterday evening.

The search brought out RCMP officers and community members, who set up a base at the town’s arena. The Kamloops Search and Rescue team was called to assist in the search around 1:30 a.m.

“We had a lot people out there searching,” Linklater says. “It was a very happy ending.”
