Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Fortis Inc. (TSX:FTS). Utilities. Up 99 cents, or 2.42 per cent, to $41.95 on 11.5-million shares.

Aureus Mining Inc. (TSX:AUE). Miner. Down one cent, or 25 per cent, to three cents on 6.2-million shares.

ECN Capital Corp. (TSX:ECN). Financial Services. Down five cents, or 1.67 per cent, to $2.95 on 5.3-million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 18 cents, or 3.62 per cent, to $4.79 on 5.1-million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Down one cent, or 0.18 per cent, to $5.63 on 4.7-million shares.

Teck Resources Ltd. (TSX:TCK.B). Miner. Up 74 cents, or 3.09 per cent, to $24.66 on 4.6-million shares.

Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (TSX:BAM.A). Real Estate Services. Down 62 cents, or 1.31 per cent, to $46.74 on 736,504 shares. The owner of India's RCom wireless network says an arm of Brookfield Asset Management will become majority owner of its tower infrastructure under a preliminary cash deal worth US$1.7 billion. The towers and related infrastructure are used to receive and relay the radio signals that carry voice, video or other traffic between cellphones, smartphones and other mobile devices. Reliance Communications Ltd. of Mumbai announced Friday that it has signed a non-binding term sheet with Brookfield Infrastructure (TSX:BIP.UN) (down three cents, or 0.07 per cent, to $44.71 on 136,810 shares), which would acquire a 51-per-cent stake in a separate entity that would own the towers.
