Man shot in face charged with uttering threats, damaging property

KAMLOOPS – A man who was recently shot in the face will continue to make his recovery in jail.

Emmanual “Manny” Brooks, 23, charged with uttering threats and mischief in relation to property damage under $5,000 appeared in Kamloops Provincial Court August 13. Brooks was arrested August 11 after he allegedly broke window screens and flower pots with a golf club.

This incident came after Brooks was shot in the face and suffered damage to his hand on August 2. The bullet lodged near his spine. Four people were taken into custody following the shooting but no charges have been laid in that case as of yet. Kamloops RCMP continue to investigate the shooting.

Brooks will return to court August 21. He remains in custody at Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.
