DELTA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 3-1 in a Western Hockey League exhibition game Saturday night in Delta.

Colton Heffley scored the game winner and then sealed the victory with an empty-net goal in the win, which kicked off a two game exhibition weekend for the Rockets.

Rockets captain Madison Bowey had the other Kelowna marker as the team improved to 2-1-0-0 in the preseason.

Goalies Jake Morrissey and Christopher Tai split time in the Rockets net.

The Rockets will play Victoria on Sunday afternoon in Delta (1 p.m.) as part of a mini tournament with two games a day taking place at the Sungod Arena in Delta.

Kelowna will return home next weekend to close out the WHL exhibition schedule Sept. 13 against the Royals.

The Rockets open the WHL regular season at Prospera Place in Kelowna on Sept. 20 vs. Kamloops.
