RCMP have identified the victim in a Kamloops homicide this past spring.

Chaneill Satow, 39, was shot in a Brocklehurst townhouse earlier this year, later dying of her injuries after she was taken to hospital.

“At this time, the incident is believed to be isolated and the parties involved, known to each other,” Sgt. Nestor Baird of the detachment's Serious Crime Unit said after the shooting.

Her name was included in an RCMP report to a Kamloops city council committee this week. The report was intended to update elected city officials on the detachment's ongoing investigations.

Up until now, police have refrained from releasing her identity to the public.

The report said investigators have made good progress on the probe into Satow's death.

Police were called to the 800 block of Valhalla Drive where Satow was shot in May 2023. She was taken to hospital and kept on life support for five days until she died. That's when the investigation became a homicide. Officers also raided a home on Cornwall Street two days after the shooting. The search was related to the shooting but police haven't said what they were looking for or whether they seized anything.

Satow was from Kelowna and also had ties to Sechelt, died on May 26. Her family held a celebration of life in Kelowna that month.

When reached by iNFOnews.ca, a family member offered no comment.

No one has been charged in relation to Satow's death.
