KAMLOOPS - Eva Ujiye and her family were not planning a big trip this year, they couldn’t think of what to do. So when she was named the grand prize winner of the InfoTel Multimedia’s houseboat vacation contest she knew it was the perfect opportunity for a family getaway.

“I’m so excited,” she says. “We didn’t think we’d have a real vacation this year…. This is perfect.”

Ujiye says she enters, and wins, a lot of contests but this is the biggest she has ever won. The houseboat vacation includes three nights on a boat large enough to sleep 15 people in the beautiful Shuswap region.

“(My kids) always say they can’t take the time off (for a family vacation)… but this is three days, and it’s close. We’ll all get to be together,” the school custodian says, noting, "I've always wanted to do one of these."
