DON'T LET THE SNOW STOP YOU FROM GIVING

KAMLOOPS - More than 2,000 families in Kamloops are in need this Christmas and Kamloops RCMP is asking for your help to make their holiday season a little brighter.

RCMP is teaming up with Christmas Amalgamated to help needy families in the city this year. Community members are invited to help stuff some police cruisers with donations of food, toys and clothing, according to a media release.

Tomorrow, Dec. 10, local RCMP officers, RCMP auxillaries, sheriffs and community volunteers will be accepting donations at Toys "R" Us and Walmart from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Some special guests will be helping, including the RCMP Safety Bear, Princesses from Wishing Well Parties and local singer Madison Olds.

Christmas Amalgamated has suggested a list of donation items:

  • Clothing for children (newborn to 14 years)
  • Blankets (newborn to 12 months)
  • Developmental toys (newborn to toddler)
  • Toys (teen boys)
  • Grooming products (teen boys)
  • Chocolates and mixed nuts
  • Christmas cake
  • Gift cards (grocery or retail)

Other than winter coats, you're asked to not donate secondhand items.

For more information please contact Sally Whitson of Christmas Amalgamated at 250-376-0777 or Cst. Natalie Anfield of the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
