Hold and secure at Lumby school ended without incident

A hold and secure protocol was initiated at a school in Lumby today because of a threat report, police say.

The Vernon RCMP is investigating the incident at Charles Bloom Secondary School.

The school’s administration found out that a threat involving bear spray was made against a group of students. Administrators reported it to RCMP at 10 a.m. on Feb. 23.

The school was placed on hold and secure while police investigated.

The RCMP’s assessment of the situation determined the threat wasn’t credible. The hold and secure was lifted so staff and students were able to safely go back to their regular activities.

Police have not made any arrests yet, but are still investigating.
