Gas prices drop below $1 in Kamloops

The Costco gas station is buzzing with activity this morning thanks to a 99.9 cents per litre gas price.

KAMLOOPS - An early Christmas gift for Kamloops drivers Monday as gas prices continue to drop.

At least one station is selling a litre of regular for less than $1, according to Gas Buddy, a website that tracks consumer reported gas prices across the country.

Many stations in Kamloops are under $1.05 per litre, but at 99.9 cents per litre, the Costco in Kamloops is nearly 10 cents less than the average price in the province.

The average gas price in B.C. is $1.10 per litre, down significantly from a month ago when prices averaged $1.23 per litre and a lot lower than the six-year high of about $1.45 per litre recorded this summer.

Prince George has some of the lowest gas prices Monday morning, with at least one gas station charging 95.9 cents per litre at the pump and several others sitting at 98.9 cents per litre.

The average gas price in Canada is currently $1.015 per litre with crude oil trading at just under $58 USD per barrel.
