TORONTO - Toronto's controversial Mayor Rob Ford is holding the official launch of his re-election campaign tonight.
Ford, who was the first to register as a candidate in January, says thousands are expected at the event at the Toronto Congress Centre in the city's west end.
The mayor is expected to focus on achievements during his first term and not make any major campaign announcements.
His main rivals — Olivia Chow, John Tory, Karen Stintz and David Socknacki — have already started their bids for the job.<
Ford was stripped of most of his powers after he admitted to having smoked crack cocaine.
He says voters will re-elect him on Oct. 27 based on his track record.
