KAMLOOPS - Kamloops residents are in for a sunny start to the week, but looks can be deceiving. The sun may shine brightly, but the air will be bitterly cold.
According to Environment Canada, today, Dec. 5, will be the warmest day of the week, with highs reaching a whopping -3 Celsius. Overnight, the temperature will plummet to -8 C, with clouds and gusty winds.
If you’ve been putting off pulling out the toque and mitts, now is the time.
Highs throughout the week will stay below zero as this arctic front keeps temperatures between 5 to 10 degrees below normal.
Tuesday’s thermometer will reach only -9 C, and the morning will be partly cloudy. Rising gusty winds will blow most of the clouds away by midday. Skies will be clear overnight, with a low of -16 C.
The mercury will stay low throughout the week, with highs of only -10 C to -8 C through Friday, and lows of -11 to -16 C. The sun will shine proudly on Wednesday, but snow clouds will roll in by Thursday, and will remain for the rest of the week.
During this cold snap, remember that the cold weather affects everyone, including your household animals. The BC SPCA encourages the public to bring animals inside when the temperature drops, and to ensure that any outdoor animals have access to a warm, protected spot and unfrozen water in this weather.
