OSOYOOS - Oscar nominee Casey Affleck will be in the Osoyoos area this month to shoot a new film.
Ben Affleck's younger brother will be acting and directing a portion of Light of My Life, a movie he’s also written. Scenes will be shot in a local house along with roads and wooded areas, according to an Okanagan Film Commission media release.
The film is about a father and daughter surviving and being hunted in the forest after a pandemic has swept over the world. It also stars child actress Anna Pniowsky.
Casey Affleck is best known for his role in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, which he received an Oscar nomination for. He’s also appeared in Interstellar, Triple 9 and voiced a character in ParaNorman. He's also nominated for an Oscar for his role in Manchester by the Sea this year.
Black Bear productions, an award wining production company, is working with Affleck. Teddy Schwarzian, of Black Bear, says in the release the production should bring "minimal disruption" for the town’s residents.
“The Okanagan region’s character and landscape is incredibly unique, and a perfect fit for our film,” he says.
