QUARANTINE BACK IN EFFECT
KAMLOOPS – Less than two weeks after finally opening following a ringworm outbreak, the local branch of the SPCA has had to quarantine the dogs and a cat room once again due to the infection.
This afternoon the shelter got word another dog tested positive for ringworm, forcing the quarantine. A small lesion has also been spotted on one of the cats and the room she is in has been put under quarantine while they await test results.
Some cats, bunnies, rats and a bird are still available for adoption.
The shelter closed down completely at the beginning of November and was able to partially reopen Dec. 16.
Ringworm is an infection that causes lesions on the skin. It is treated with at least two rounds of a lime dip treatment.
