NEW YORK (AP) — The man who opened fire at Virginia’s Old Dominion University was granted an early release from federal prison after completing a drug treatment program, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. Mohamed Bailor Jalloh was released in December 2024 with about 2 1/2 years left on his 11-year sentence for attempting to aid the Islamic State group. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and did so on condition of anonymity.
