Work ongoing to restore RDOS network

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen continues work to restore its network after a threatened ransomware attack last week.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen is still working to restore its internal network system following an attempted ransomware attack last week.

The district isolated the network and took email, internet and other services offline last week in order to prevent damage to the operating systems.

Some website content was made unavailable as a result, including internet mapping, vendor payments and automatic withdrawals.

It’s still unknown when the system will be fully operational.

Regional district staff and cyber insurance experts are trying to ensure the system is uncompromised prior to bringing all parts of it back into operation.

RDOS staff have limited email access at this time, and residents and customers trying to contact a regional district employee or board member may see a ‘bounce back’ if they have sent an email to the regional district in the past week.

For a list of email addresses that remain available for the public to contact RDOS staff, see the RDOS website.
