WolfPack men's basketball swept in Alberta

Edmonton, AB—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack leave the city of Edmonton, Alberta without any points in Canada West men’s basketball. The ‘Pack lost to the host University of Alberta Golden Bears 83-52  Saturday night (Nov 19) at the Saville Centre.

SYNOPSIS

The Golden Bears remain unbeaten (6-0) on the season while TRU drops to 1-5.  TRU had two players in double figures: Joe Davis (2nd year, forward, Kamloops, BC) had 11 points while Volodymyr Iegorov (5th year, forward, Donetsk, Ukraine) added 10 points.   Alberta’s top scorer was Mamadou Gueye with 17 points. Austin Waddoups added 16 points.   TRU trailed 46-24 at the half.

THOMPSON RIVERS
Joe Davis: 11 points, 3 rebounds in 24 minutes
Volodymyr Iegorov: 10 points, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 5 rebounds (3 defense) in 23 minutes
Mike Rouault: 10 rebounds (5 each way)  in 21 minutes

ALBERTA:
Marmadou Gueye: 17 points, 7 rebounds (4 on defense) in 28 minutes
Austin Waddoups 16 points, 4 steals, 2 assists, 1 block in 20 minutes
Brody Clarke: 9 points, 7 rebounds (6 on defense), 1 block in 28 minutes
Ivan Ikomey: 9 points, 1 assist, 1 steal,  4 rebounds (3 on defense) in 18 minutes.

RECORDS:
Alberta 6-0    TRU 1-5

“Fatigue was a bit of a factor for us. We are anxious to get home after playing the last two weeks on the road,” TRU head coach Scott Clark says.

UP NEXT:
The  WolfPack’s next home game will be Friday, November 25th on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre. Tip off will be 8 pm against the UBCO Heat.  You can see the game on a pay per view basis by logging onto  WWW.CanadawestTV.  The pre-game show will be on the air around 7:45 pm.
It will be their last home stand before the Christmas break.
