Wine centre will soon have a new home; no word yet on Visitor Centre

Time will tell where the Penticton and Wine Country Visitor Centre will be relocated, but for now the centre will remain in its temporary quarters on the South Okanagan Events Centre parking lot.

PENTICTON - Penticton’s VQA Wine Shop will soon be out of its temporary location, but plans are still up in the air for the Visitor Centre.

The two tourist-oriented venues were forced out of their former location following plans to locate the new Cascades Casino on the southwest corner of the South Okanagan Events Centre property last year.

The wine shop and tourist information centre have been housed since then in temporary quarters in the events centre parking lot.

When the new Penticton Cascades Casino opens today, April 5, it will have a new tenant as the VQA Wine Shop finds its new home there.

That won’t be the case for the Penticton and Wine Country Visitor Centre, however, which will remain at its temporary location in the South Okanagan Events Centre parking lot for the time being.

Travel Penticton executive director Thom Tischik says Travel Penticton is working on a couple of options for a new location, for both the Visitors Centre and Travel Penticton’s executive offices.

“We look forward to continuing assisting visitors and local residents and will announce our new location as plans become more firm,” Tischik said in an email.
