Kelowna RCMP officers gave a boost to a wheelchair user who became stuck in a dangerous location when his battery died earlier this week.

A police officer was patrolling Glenmore Drive, Jan. 31, when he saw a man in a powered wheelchair sitting in oncoming traffic.

After speaking with the man, the officer discovered his battery had died and he'd been stranded on the side of the road for roughly three hours, according to a Kelowna RCMP on Facebook.

The officer called for another police officer after an unsuccessful attempt to arrange a ride for the man, and together the two officers pushed him back to his home while another officer patrolled the roads ahead to keep them safe.

The man was very appreciative and his family called the detachment the following week to express their gratitude and thank the RCMP officers for going “above and beyond” the call of duty.
