PENTICTON - A man wanted on several warrants is behind bars in spite of his attempts to evade arrest last week.
Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says on Friday, March 3, a Penticton First Nations police constable was making patrols on the reserve when he spotted a Mercury Sable at the Super Save gas pumps.
The officer stopped to talk to the driver and became suspicious, realizing the man was being sought by police on a number of warrants.
The driver provided false identification then attempted to evade arrest by running away, Wrigglesworth says. He was tackled, and after a short scuffle, arrested on the outstanding warrants.
The man faces charges of obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest.
