FALKLAND - A 28-year-old man from Falkland wanted on outstanding warrants has been arrested after he first fled police in a vehicle at high speed and later on foot.

According to a Vernon-North Okanagan press release, 28-year-old Falkland resident, Jordan McCann, was arrested Aug. 7 in Enderby.

On Aug. 7 an RCMP officer recognized McCann driving and believed him to be a prohibited driver.

The officer radioed other RCMP officers and one attempted to stop the suspect vehicle on Highway 97, but the he allegedly veered around the stopped police car and drove away at high speed.

The RCMP did not pursue the vehicle but around 20 minutes later located the suspect in the 1900 block of George Street in Enderby where he was arrested. While being walked to the police car McCann allegedly broke free from the officer and fled on foot but was captured once again a short distance away.

He was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of motor vehicle, flight from peace officer, driving while prohibited/licence suspended, escape from lawful custody and willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

McCann is scheduled to appear in Vernon court on Aug. 23.
