Village of Clinton under evacuation alert

KAMLOOPS – More evacuation orders have come as the Ashcroft Reserve Fire gets closer to homes around Loon Lake and the Village of Clinton.

The evacuation order for homes in the Loon Lake area of the Thompson Nicola Regional District covers 376 addresses. It was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday, July 14 for the following addresses in Electoral Area E:

• 15 Loon Lake Rd to 3250 Loon Lake Road
• 3094 Stevens Rd to 3087 Stevens Road
• 98, 125, 145, 164 and 200 Cornell Road
• 4753, 4797, 5015, 5037, 5077, 5221, 5296, 5053, 5385, 5411, 5468, 5511, 5515, 5525, 5529, 5589, 5637, 5661, 5665, 6265, 6281, 6353, 6696, 6715, 6729, 6769, 6801, 6805, 6814, 6817, 6824, 6848, 6855, 6935, 6938, 7026 and 7062 Highway 97
• 6681 and 6697 26 Mile Frontage Road
• 1280 and 1284 Rensch Road
• 1090, 1134 and 1190 Tomlin Road

The properties under evacuation alert includes the entirety of Clinton northwest of Cache Creek. In the event of an evacuation of the village of around 650, residents have been directed to the evacuation centre at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops.

An evacuation alert has also been issued for seven properties near Clinton:

• 780 Valley Road
• 7737, 7845 and 8030 Fenton Road
• 1460, 1480 and 1492 Mound Road

Under an evacuation alert residents are advised to prepare to leave at a moments notice. This includes locating all pets and family members and collecting important documents and medication.
