Vernon RCMP find two bodies in Coldstream mobile home

The trailer cordoned off by police.

Vernon RCMP have confirmed it found two bodies in a Coldstream trailer this morning.

According to an RCMP media release, police received a report of an assault with a weapon at a home in the 8500 block of Clerke Road at 5:30 a.m. today, Jan. 17.

"Upon arrival, police discovered two bodies within the home, a man suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries, and a fourth man who was taken into custody," the release says. "The injured man was taken to a local-area hospital for medical treatment."

RCMP say the deaths are deemed to be suspicious and officers from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit has now taken over the investigation.

Bloody hand stains can clearly be seen on the door of the trailer cordoned off by police.

One neighbour told iNFOnews.ca he saw an RCMP officer pointing a rifle at the trailer at around 6 a.m.

"He was stood there an hour," the neighbour said about the officer with the rifle.

The neighbour didn't know who lived in the trailer but described it as a "party house" where "questionable" people lived.

He said he heard doors slamming at about 5:30 a.m. and the police showed up at roughly 5:45 a.m.

The neighbour said he didn't hear any shots fired.

The trailer is located at the Kalview Trailer Park on Clerke Road in Coldstream.

Police had asked the public to avoid the area and not to share the location or activities of police on social media. "This may jeopardize the safety of everyone at the scene," the earlier news release said.

"The initial investigation leads us to believe that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public," B.C. RCMP spokesperson Staff Sgt. Kris Clark said in the release.

The RCMP says it's also aware of a vehicle that was discovered burning at another location.

"At this time no linkage has been established between the two events but the investigation is in its infancy and investigators will be looking at all avenues," the release states.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit information line at 1-877-987-8477.
