VERNON - A Vernon man is facing several charges after causing a disturbance and allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Police were called to Polson Park, near Highway 6 and 25 Avenue, just after 2 p.m. yesterday, Nov. 20, Sgt. Annie Linteau says in a release.

“Officers arrived on scene to find the male acting erratically by yelling, dancing around and hitting walls of the Lawn Bowling Club,” Linteau says.

Officers attempted to make contact with the man, but he fled on foot.

Police patrolled the area and found the 26-year-old man at Highway 6 near Polson Place Mall, Linteau says. He was arrested for breaching court conditions.

“Upon taking the male into custody, the male allegedly assaulted a police officer causing the officer to sustain minor injuries. The officer received immediate medical treatment for the injuries sustained,” Linteau says.

The suspect, Ryan Perreault, was charged with assault of a police officer causing bodily harm, assault with intent to resist arrest, failing to comply with a recognizance and causing a disturbance in a public place.
