A resolution to a 34-year-old Vernon cold case is expected by the end of this week.

Paramjit Singh Bogarh is accused of killing his wife Saminder Kaur Bogarh in 1986. He was extradited from the United States and his trial was to get underway this month.

Now Crown and defence lawyers appear to have reached an agreement that will avoid a trial. It will be presented to court later in the week.

Bogarh has been charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Indictment for a new charge and sentencing on that charge is scheduled for Thursday, March 5.

Bogarh, born in 1961, was extradited from the United States in 2018.

He and his wife Saminder had a young son together, according to court documents filed in the U.S. in support of his extradition.

Bogarh remains in custody.
