VERNON - Charges have been laid in connection with a 32-year-old murder case in the North Okanagan.

Court documents name Narinder Singh Bogarh and Paramjit Singh Bogarh in the Dec. 31, 1986 killing of Saminder Kaur Bogarh at or near Vernon. Both are charged with first degree murder as well as conspiracy to commit murder between the dates of Nov. 1, 1986 and Dec. 31, 1986 in Vernon and elsewhere in Canada.

Spokesperson for the B.C. Prosecution Service Dan McLaughlin says Paramjit Singh Bogarh, born 1961, was extradited from the United States and is now before the courts in Vernon. He was Saminder Kaur Bogarh's spouse.

Paramjit Singh Bogarh was ordered detained on May 25 and returns to court May 31, 2018 when he will appear in Vernon by video.

"The B.C. Prosecution Service continues to pursue the extradition of Narindar Singh Bogarh. As the matters are now before the court there will be no further comment by the B.C. Prosecution Service," McLaughlin says.

Narinder Singh Bogarh was born in 1964. The B.C. Prosecution Service did not comment on his relationship with Paramjit or Saminder.

According to court documents, a warrant was issued in the public interest for both individuals on Jan. 31, 2018, the same day the charges were sworn.
