OSOYOOS - The Swanson Mill Fire in Okanogan County, which is 20 kilometres south of Osoyoos and across the US-Canada border is in the mop-up phase.

The Washington State Department of National Resources tweeted today, July 4, the fire is now approximately 300 acres in size and crews worked overnight to contain it. This morning, the remaining resources on the ground are mopping up.

The fire swelled in size from 20 acres to 300 acres in one day.

B.C. Wildfire had been called in to assist yesterday, sending in two air tankers and one bird dog aircraft. The government agency also noted that smoke would likely be visible to Canadians.
