VERNON - All are invited to today's celebration in Lumby as the community awaits word on the winner of this year’s Hockeyville contest.

The celebration will coincide with the highly anticipated live announcement today, April 2, of the Kraft Hockeyville winning community.

A swell of support lifted Lumby to the top two in the contest, which automatically grants the community $100,000 for upgrades at the deteriorating Pat Duke Memorial Arena. If it wins against rival Saint-Isadore in Quebec, it will also get to host a pre-season NHL game.

Kraft Hockeyville Day in Lumby will centre around activities in the parking lot outside the arena.

Organizers are encouraging people to bring lawn chairs, propane campfires and barbecues to add to the tailgate party-afternoon campout atmosphere. There will be live music and lots of activities.

The Hockeyville announcement will be broadcast on a big screen around 3:45 p.m.

More information about the event can be found on the Facebook event page.
